WHERE: Special Learning Center, 1115 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City
WHAT: United Way of Central Missouri COVID Response & Recovery Grants News Conference
Responding to the needs of our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be one of United Way of Central Missouri’s highest priorities. Without question, the duration and severity of this crisis is taxing the resources and operations for all health and human service agencies and is demanding an unprecedented, united, sustained and agile response--which is why the United Way of Central Missouri Board of Directors is proud to award $170,894 through 24 COVID Response & Recovery grants on August 4th to health and human service agencies serving our community. These one-time grants will address new or existing programs, capacity or operational challenges due to the COVID pandemic. The funding of these grants is made possible through the United Way of Central Missouri COVID-19 Response Fund thanks to the generosity of caring, compassionate individuals, organizations and foundations—including Missouri Foundation for Health who identified the United Way of Central Missouri as being well positioned to identify and assist agencies during the pandemic, and provided $100,000 in funding to assist with local response and recovery.
These grant opportunities were made available early June and were open to any health and human service 501(c)(3) that met the grant eligibility requirements and serves all or a portion of the United Way of Central Missouri service area; including Camden, Cole, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Osage, Phelps and southern Callaway counties. Grant eligibility requirements included having a verified and current 501(c)(3) status, Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that meets at least quarterly and has been in operation for two or more years.
The complete list of grant recipients, the amount awarded for each agency and what each grant will fund will be provided at the News Conference.
Grant recipients support United Way’s mission to fight for the health, education, financial stability and basic needs of every person in our community; and understand the importance of being responsive and innovative during these unprecedented times resulting from the global COVID pandemic. United Way staff will be available for questions immediately following the News Conference.
