United Way Announces Campaign Totals at Victory Celebration

(Jefferson City, MO, November 3, 2016) The United Way of Central Missouri marked the end of its formal fundraising period at a Victory Celebration held at Missouri Farm Bureau on November 3.  Prior to announcing the campaign results, organizers stressed that the total amount raised contains projections as donations continue to arrive at the United Way office over the coming weeks and months.

This year’s campaign goal was $1.825 million and the projected pledge total of the 2016 Community Campaign is $1,921,568. “We have an incredible community that has come together as a support network.  Our community was able to not only meet our goal, but surpass it by over $96,500,” said Jayne Dunkmann, 2016 Campaign Co-Chair.  “Year after year the United Way has seen unbelievable growth in the campaigns of our long-standing businesses, as well as the new businesses that have joined the United Way family.”

“These are projected totals,” added Matt Tollerton, 2016 Campaign Co-Chair.  “Our final number includes projections from several campaigns that are still ongoing—and a few that haven’t even started yet; and we can only reach these results with the successful completion of these campaigns.  We’re counting on those who are still running campaigns to finish strong so we can meet this projected total.”

“Thank you seems so inadequate…It is humbling and a true blessing to thank our supporters on behalf of the United Way of Central Missouri, our partner agencies and those who will benefit from the incredible generosity of the selfless, compassionate people in our community,” said United Way of Central Missouri President, Ann Bax. “I am so proud to be part of this great community.  This projected campaign total means United Way will have the capacity to continue our mission to fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community!”

Money raised during the Community Campaign funds the work of the 28 partner agencies, programs and initiatives.  Funds stay in our community to help those in the counties served: Cole, Miller, Moniteau, Osage, Southern Callaway, Morgan and Camden.
