Capital City CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)

Educates and informs the community about the problem of underage drug use. Works to bring together parents, schools, law enforcement, businesses, churches, and teens to find ways to encourage teen-agers to be drug and alcohol-free.

Dental, Eye, and Shoe Program

Provides dental examinations and necessary dental work, complete eye examinations and treatment for infections and injuries, eyeglasses and repairs for low income children. Shoes are provided to low-income school children through vouchers for use at local stores. Referrals are made by school nurses and principals.

Salvation Army

Provides assistance to low-income individuals and families in crisis. Operates homeless shelter and offers emergency food, clothing, medicine, rent and utility assistance, as well as character-building programs for youth and adults, counseling and referrals. Also provides seasonal assistance at Christmas, visits to individuals in nursing homes, and distributes school supplies to needy children.
